Fall Style for New York City Sights with Rocksbox Jewels

New York City is a beautiful place in the months of autumn. The city pulsates with activity and color as the season makes it shift from summer to winter. Central Park in particular vibrates with crimson gold color as the trees and foliage make their glorious transformation. The air is cooler and, most importantly, less offensive. As much as I love New York City, the smells can be a bit overwhelming especially during the warmer months. A weekend trip in October and November is an ideal time to visit the sights of New York City and to marvel at the beauty that is the Big Apple.

The first spot to hit on the itinerary is Central Park (59th to 110th St., from Central Park West to 5th Ave), especially if you find yourself visiting on a pleasant day as I did this past week. Next up, is Pultzer Fountain with its cobbled grounds and magnificent scenery. An added bonus is the fact that it’s in the vicinity of major shopping haunts such as Henri Bendel, Bergdorf Goodman, Tiffany’s, and Louis Vuitton just to name a few. If you walk along 5th Avenue, you’ll hit the whole shopping gamut from low to high fashions. Even if you’re not a fashion lover, you won’t be able to resist the urge to window shop.

As for food, if you fancy good beer on tap and some German fare, check out Hofbräu Bierhaus (712 3rd Ave), one of my favorite beer gardens in the city. My personal favorite on the menu is the Hofbräu Hefe Weizen and the warm Hofbräu soft pretzel with sweet mustard. Trust me. You have to try it. Another descent place to grab a bite and a pint is at the Perfect Pint (203 E 45th St and 123 W 45th St). Depending on the weather, have a seat at the rooftop and order yourself the artichoke dip to start off your meal or have the mini crab cakes with a pint of beer to wash it down. After grabbing something to eat, this is the opportunity to do some serious walking. If you want to get the full New York experience, ditch the Uber and the subway for the day and let your feet take you to where you need to go. Do it and you’ll take your Fitbit game to a new level.

When walking around the city, comfort is a must especially if you plan to rack up those steps but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style. On this day, I decided to keep my outfit practical yet chic. I went for a sweater dress paired with leggings, a leather jacket and short flat boots. As for accessories, the crossbody bag, silk scarf, floppy hat and round sunglasses helped pull the look together. I decided to go a different route with my jewelry than my usual rotation of pieces.

In October, I received my first Rocksbox subscription for three months in exchange for a review as part of the brand’s blogger outreach campaign. Rocksbox is an online jewelry rental service where a stylist hand picks jewelry based on your style. I wonder if my stylist at Rocksbox knew she was picking jewelry for 1.) a personal stylist and 2.) a minimalist when it comes to jewelry. I’m always willing to mix it up when it comes to my style so this was an opportunity to do just that with my first Rocksbox, which included a statement necklace, cuff bracelet and drop earrings. While, I liked the first box by Rocksbox, I didn’t have that “need to have it” feeling which is the basis of any purchase I make so I returned all three pieces. Now, I anxiously await box set #2. Want a peek? Follow me on Instagram for a look at my next jewelry set.

What do you think? Give Rocksbox a shot by signing up for one free month with special code stylebyvalxoxo. If you choose to continue your subscription after the free trial, it’s $19 per month to borrow a set of three pieces at a time, which you can switch out whenever you like. Is there a certain piece that gives you that “need to have it” feeling? Go ahead! You can buy any piece from your box. Also, each month you receive $10 to apply towards a purchase and free, prepaid shipping both ways.
