Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2016: Cruises Down The Swinging Sixties

Rebecca Minkoff took us on a cruise down memory lane with 1960’s style looks inspired by rocker Marianne Faithful for the designer’s Spring 2016 collection presented at New York Fashion Week. Out of all the style icons of the 1960’s such as Twiggy, Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Onassis, Diana Ross à la The Supremes (just to name a few), Faithful is a curious choice considering her only claim to fame is being one of the many former girlfriends of Mick Jagger. Also, let’s not forget the infamous drug bust incident in which she was found wearing only a fur rug during a police raid in 1967 at Keith Richards’ house in West Wittering, Sussex.

Regardless, Minkoff’s spring collection stays true to the brand’s edgy rocker aesthetic with all the sizzling trends (e.g. fringe, short hemlines, boxy jackets) that will dominate the season on full display. This confident attitude played out in a mix of leather, suede, studs, and knee-high gladiator heels. The color palette for this collection of ’60s nostalgia echoed the same theme in other runway shows with fabrics in hues of black, gray, white, pale orange and lavender.

Below is a roundup of our top 17 looks from the show. What do you think? Which styles do you see yourself wearing when spring arrives? We know it’s a long way but you can still day dream in the meantime.
